THE STORY BEHINDEthiopia Yirgacheffe Banko Gotiti is obtained from family farms organized around the Banko Gotiti Cooperative located in the village of Banko Gotiti in the southern region of Gedeb in the Gedeo Region of Ethiopia. The cooperative was established in 2012 as a separate entity from the larger Worka Cooperative and now has around 300 members. Banko Gotiti Cooperative is known for its selection of the best coffee cherries in Ethiopia. Ripe cherries are carefully selected and immediately placed in raised beds constructed to provide proper air circulation and temperature control for optimal drying. The cherries are stored in a local warehouse after the humidity is reduced to 11.5 to 12 percent and then transported to Addis Ababa, where the coffee is ground and exported.
